Forgiveness

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
(1 John 1:9 NLT)

"I'll forgive, but I will never forget."

We need to forgive as well as forget about all of the wrong and hatred that has been put against us. If we only forgive them our mind is still battling with that past memory that we "forgave". Forgiving and Forgetting go hand in hand. Forgive someone for what they've done to you, don't ask for an apology and then forget about the past and work on making the better relationships and memories in the future.

  1. Anne Lamott (I may have mentioned her once or twice) says that not forgiving is like eating rat poison and then waiting for the rat to die. Not forgiving is you giving the other person control of that part of your heart. And they don't even know or even care.
