"See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people."
(1 Thessalonians 5:15 NLT)
As a child, we are told by our elders to be nice to others and treat them the way we want to be treated. When we do something wrong, such as hitting or biting or yelling angry words at each other, we come home and tell our parents and they ask what we did to receive those acts of violence or what we did in return. We tend to do the same thing that the other kids do and our parents tell us, "two wrongs don't make a right!" and once again, "you should treat others the way you want to be treated". As we get older, we all need to learn how to think before we speak and act out to others. When you do so, you will gradually grow closer to the phrase, "treat others the way you want to be treated".
About hitting, we tell our boys not to hit first, but they can (and should) defend themselves. People will treat others the way they see themselves and the way they see themselves being treated. But if everything we do is either a step toward good or a step toward evil - and I believe it is - then our relationships go a long way to determining which way we're walking.
